Problem
You find that Outlook hangs for many minutes. You might need force it closed by clicking the X in its Task Bar icon or use Task Manager to End Task.
Cause
A Windows Update caused a Avid process to not successfully run in the background.
Solution
Please update Windows. See this knowledge base article.
If Outlook still hangs, please change these Outlook settings:
Click File > Options > Trust Center, and click the Trust Center Settings button.
Click Attachment Handling in the left list.
Check the box to “Turn off Attachment Preview”. Click OK.
And also from File > Options , click Advanced. In the Display section, check the box to Disable hardware graphics acceleration.
Newer updates of Outlook won’t have the Display section.
